Kikyou... Okay, first off, this entire page is a spoiler, but the site just wouldn't be complete without it. So stop reading here iffin you care about that sort of thing. That said, Kikyou is a priestess who dies in the first episode, when she pins Inuyasha to his tree and leaves him there. She's reincarnated in the fifteenth episode, but, as Kagome wasn't too willing to give up her soul, Kikyou was left mainly with a burning hatred of... Inuyasha. Which is slightly ironic, as the two had been in love before. Ummm... anything more would totally spoil most people, so I'll stop here.

Miroku is a complicated character. A Buddhist monk, when we first meet him he is robbing a lord's house and trying to get any sight of a naked woman he possibly can. Later on he proves to have incredible power, even Inuyasha cannot defeat him. When he joins Inuyasha and Kagome, he proves to be a steady, reliable, and useful member. Miroku has his own gripe against Naraku-- his hand carries an "Air Void," a black hole curse passed down to him from his grandfather. This curse was laid on the family by Naraku, and will eventually wipe out the family line if Naraku isn't killed.

Inuyasha!!! He's such a great character! Heh... If you couldn't tell, I really love this guy. He's just sooo... I don't know. Complex. Unhappy. Slightly tragic. I like tragic. Anyway, Inuyasha is a hanyou, or "half-demon." Notice the ears. His mother was human, and his father was a rather large dog demon. Inuyasha is tormented by the fact that he is neither full human nor full demon, and he doesn't fit in anywhere. He's the title character of the anime, of course, second to none. Inuyasha used to be in love with Kikyou, and couldn't fathom why she sealed him away as she did.

Kagome. Right. Well... I normally don't like the "girl" part of magical girl anime... but for some reason, I like Kagome. She is not your typical ditzy, far-too-active, unrealistically porpotioned anime girl, but in a way a HATE her she caused all of the trouble for everybody...& sometimes a wished she didnt exist. She's intelligent, kind, and seems to be a very believable character. She gets sucked down a well by a centipede demon, which takes her back to fuedal age Japan. My only qualm is that she doesn't much like Inuyasha, at least at the beginning.

Other: A fairly typical schoolgirl, who lives on the grounds of the old temple her grandfather runs.

Heh... Sesshoumaru, lovingly called "Fluffy" by his fans, is... interesting. He has shown up two or three times in the show so far, and the manga promises he will be a fairly regular character. Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha's older half-brother, and he hates Inuyasha. Inuyasha is half human, a blotch on the family name, Inuyasha posesses the sword Tetsusaiga, which should be Sesshoumaru's, and even worse, Inuyasha has defeated him in every battle thus far. He seems to hate all humans, except for attractive young girls, and he has a constant thirst for more power.

Weapon: "Poison flower claw" attack, some sort of electric whippy thing, sword Toukijin, and well as claws and teeth in his full youkai form.

Isn't he kawaii? Shippou is everybody's favorite kitsune, or fox demon. He's just a cub, as you can see. Shippou lost his father to the Thunder Brothers, Hiten and Maten, and swore to avenge him. He met Inuyasha as he attempted to steal Inuyasha's collection of Shikon shards. Needless to say, the two did not get along straight off. However, he seems to have a crush on Kagome, and has become a member of their little group. Since then, Inu Yasha has come to think of him as a friend and some one to protect.

Age: Episode 75 has a evidence that Shippou is at least 50. Youkai age slooooowly.
Species: Kitsune youkai.
Weapon: Illusion, and he can transform into a big pink ballon.
Loves: Kagome, sort of.

Sango joins the group in the 25th episode. She is a professional Youkai Exterminator, who Naraku tricks her into trying to kill Inuyasha. She quickly realizes her mistake when she finds out that Naraku is the one who destroyed her village and killed her family. She is very quiet, and seems to be very wise. Sango reveals the secret of the Shikon no Tama to Inuyasha and friends, as the Tama originated in her village. She is accompanied everywhere by Kirara, the two-tailed kitty cat who you don't want to piss off.

Weapon: "Hiraikotsu"-- a truly impressive boomerang, as well as an array of other youkai-fighting weapons.
Loves: Probably Miroku.
Other: The most highly-skilled warrior in the village of the Youkai Exterminators.

These two are grouped together as they don't get much screen-time and their characters aren't as well developed as most.

Jakken and Rin are Sesshoumaru's two groupies. They follow him around without question. Jakken seems to be some sort of toad youkai, and in himself is pretty weak. He is the bearer of the Staff of Heads, a staff that has two heads attached to it with strange (fire-breathing) powers. Rin is a young human girl whom Sesshoumaru reincarnated with the Tensusaiga, after her village drove her out and some bandits beat her to death. She is extremely cute. The great Sesshoumaru seems to have a soft spot for her, as she tended him when he was recovering after a fight with Inu Yasha.

Kaede is the old priest, or miko, that helps and guides Inuyasha and Kagome. She is the one who tells them they must find the Shikon shards and, quite frankly, the only one who keeps them from killing each other in the first few episodes. Kaede is the little sister of Kikyou, and became a priestess when her sister died.

Other: Kaede seems to be a very wise old woman...

Here's Naraku, in his bishounen form. He is the villain of the series, as you've probably figured out by now. Naraku usually wears a baboon skin and mask to hide his form, and first reveals himself to the IY gang in the 30th episode. Naraku is the one who turned Kikyou against Inuyasha, who killed Sango's entire village, who cursed Miroku's family... the list goes on and on. He's the villain you hate to love... but you just can't help it.
